Janice Tighe
Having completed her Dance Diploma at the University of Cape Town’s School of Dance where she graduated from the Teachers Training Program with Distinctions in choreography, contemporary dance and dance teaching methods Janice went on to qualify as a ballet teacher for the Royal Academy of Dance and continued to study further to obtain her Advanced Teachers qualifications in modern dance from the A.I.D.T. and a folk dance teaching qualification from the ISTD.

Taking up an employment offer from the Canadian branch of the AIDT, Janice traveled to Canada where she spent seven years working as the Artistic Director of Gemini Dance Studios, teaching and choreographing for the school’s Performing Arts program. With her accumulated knowledge and hands on experience, Janice trained the Canadian dance teachers in the AIDT method and entries into International Dance Competitions brought her numerous choreographic awards and a highly respected recognition in and amongst the broader dance fraternity.

Upon her return to South Africa in 2003, Janice enrolled at the Renee Watson Pilates Studio where she completed her full mat and equipment Pilates qualifications. She has also qualified as a Pilates Teacher with the Pilates Method Alliance giving her certification on an International level and has completed the GYROKINESIS® Foundation Teacher Training Course. Janice was one of the founding members of the THEATRE DANCE ASSOCIATION when it formed in Cape Town in 2004. With input and involvement in choreographing the modern and ballet Syllabi, she remained on the Board and an Examiner with them until 2016. In 2013 Janice opened her own Pilates studio, Pilates in Motion, in Constantia where she offers both Group and Private Sessions. She also runs a private studio space from her home in Fish Hoek as well as teaching classes in Glencairn.

With her creative mind, energy and dedication Janice focuses on creating new movement patterns, holistic approaches and exciting opportunities for her clients inspiring and motivating the people who work with her.

In 2023 Janice came across the Lyno Method and finding that their ethos aligned so significantly with the way that she was already teaching she chose to qualify as a Lyno Practitioner feeling that it will perfectly complement her studio tag line ‘Stay in Motion!’
